Colin's Story

My name is Colin, and I lost my leg in 2021, I spent many months in rehab coming to terms with losing my leg and realising I would need to rely on other people to help me.

Careneeds was recommended to me, and from the first moment I spoke with Kathy, she put me at ease and reassured me that Careneeds and the team would do everything in their power to help and reach all my goals.

I have support workers assisting me seven days a week, all my support workers give me support and encouragement in everything I do. When I was released from rehab the professionals said there was a very good chance that I may not be able to use a prosthetic leg. With the encouragement of the support workers, the Careneeds team and the team at Physio, I am now using my prosthetic leg and becoming more independent every day.

The support workers are professional, they treat me with kindness and respect, and they have all helped me to get where I am today.

I was admitted to the hospital a few months ago and Fleur and Kathy were the first ones to contact me and check in on me, the support I had after I was released from the hospital was above and beyond what I ever expected from a Service provider.

In times of stress and feeling low Kathy is always there to support me after hours.

I have a wonderful support team around me and recently Sam my support coordinator has taken me on to get my home modifications organised and to build up my continuing independence. In the short time, Sam has been my support coordinator she has assisted me in so many ways.

Having a service provider like Careneeds you are getting attention to detail; the staff will do everything in their power to assist you and tailor your support to suit your needs. Careneeds provided support workers who suited my disability needs and my wiliness to be independent.

With Careneeds continuing support I know I will improve every day.

- Colin
